Deacon Board

Deacons of South Phoenix Missionary Baptist Church are scriptural based church officers tasked with assisting the Pastor with caring for the congregation’s spiritual and benevolent needs. The Deacon’s duties include, but are not limited to, opening church services with devotion, welcoming new members into the congregation, serving Communion, leading Prayer services, and assisting with baptisms and offerings. The Deacons support the Pastor by accompanying him to visiting churches and other engagements. Deacons visit and serve communion to the sick and shut-in. Deacons assist other church auxiliaries with their participation and support. Deacons in general oversee the concerns of the congregation and the Pastor. Deacons are leaders of the church and are appointed and approved by the Pastor and Church based on Act 6:5 and I Timothy 3:8-10. The Deacons of South Phoenix Missionary Baptist Church are committed to prayer, to serving the Church, and to God’s Word to do God’s work for God’s people.
